An open apology to residents of New EnglandYes, it's my fault. New England is under a perpetual rain cloud and seems likely to float away because I have dared to venture out of state once again. In October, I spent a rainy weekend in New York City visiting a vacationing friend...thereby missing the weekend floods that forced the evacuation of my Keene neighborhood and caused monumental damage in Alstead and neighboring regions. Last month, I spent a week in Ohio visiting my boyfriend and family...and much of New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts fell under the water-gun once again, experiencing more flooding and water damage. After spending a (naturally) rainy weekend in Montreal (during which time parts of New Hampshire and New England were under a seemingly unending flood watch), I'm now back in Ohio, this time for nearly three weeks. If past weather patterns are at all indicative, New England is in for nearly three weeks of rain. So please accept my sincere apology for causing the skies to open...and don't say I didn't warn you in time to start building an ark. |
I'm leaving this afternoon for Ohio to kidnap Lorianne and bring her back. Who's with me?
Posted by: Amy | June 09, 2006, 09:15Hey, I'd willingly *come* back to NH, for a price. Do I hear any bidders?
Posted by: Lorianne | June 09, 2006, 14:20That would be a kinder gentler way than kidnapping. I'll start off the bidding with $50, which is how much I spent on a bottle of very fine tequila I shared with friends last night at the Surf Club in Rye, looking out at the ocean and the miserable rain.
Posted by: Amy | June 10, 2006, 09:53Hey, the sun's out this morning ... did you come back early? Nothing happened to you did it? Now we'll all be worried...
Posted by: Ernesto | June 11, 2006, 08:10Oh, it will take *much* more than $50 to get me to come back to NH early...but I'm willing to listen to other bids... ;-) I'm sure it won't rain *constantly* while I'm gone, but if you're making vacation plans, know that I'll be in NH for most of July, so the rain should stop by then...
