Paris Hilton's Six Degrees of DesperadoWith Paris Whitney Hilton's recent release from jail, my thoughts turn to what led her there in the first place. Psychologists may blame it all on something lacking in her childhood education, or possibly an irresistable personal urge to self-destruct. Still others blame it on her being blonde.
I blame the entire experience on the "Six Degrees of Desperado" in her bloodline... Paris' great-grandmother, Mary Adelaide Barron, who married Conrad Nicholson Hilton (of Hilton Hotel fame) may have passed along a not-so-law-abiding genetic heritage. For example, did you know that Paris Hilton is.... --- a fifth cousin 4 times removed from Jesse and Frank James, the notorious armed bank and stage robbers And as long as I'm pointing fingers, I'll have to fess up that Paris Hilton and I share a few cousins, and so indeed we are cousins ourselves. Her notorious Tom Ketchum is also my 5th cousin 5 times removed. In addition Paris Hilton and I mutually share distant cousinship with Katharine Hepburn (American actress), Eugene Delacroix (French artist), Jane Austen (English author), and Nathaniel Hawthorne (American author). I think that Mae West, Paris Hilton's 8th cousin 3 times removed, would have given her the following sound advice for the future: "A dame that knows the ropes isn't likely to get tied up." Janice PS: The family relationships reported above are true, as abstracted from Ancestry.com's "Find Famous Relatives" beta search, based on Paris Hilton's family tree through her paternal great-grandmother. Is Paris Hilton really related to those people who broke the law? Kari
Posted by: Kari | June 27, 2007, 13:24Kari,
Yes, Paris Whitney Hilton is indeed a distant cousin to all of the "outlaws" I mentioned above, according to research on her great-grandmother, Mary Adelaide Barron.
Whether having an "outlaw" ancestor predisposes you to become one yourself is an entirely different matter which I leave to other researchers.

Mandi,
Thank you! I was hoping to be a little entertaining.

Jen,
I don't think anyone knew until now :D :D

Janice:
I think Paris and I are 10th cousins, 4 times misplaced. This must explain why I can't shake the feeling that my dog eats better than I do.
Thanks for the superb minutiae on what's wrong with America.
All best, El
El,
Knowing your family tree as well as I do, I'm sure I could find a connection between you and Paris Hilton if I worked at it. As a matter of fact I could probably find a connection between you and anyone in the world, if I worked at it. Who would you like to be related to? :D :D
And about your dog's eating habits... read the fine print on the can of Alpo and you'll feel better.
Janice
Janice:
Hmmm ... if you could find a familial connection with the Sherman clan and Bill Gates, I'd appreciate it.
Short of that, I'd settle for Lenny Bruce.
All best, El
